What Am I Doing Wrong with the Musket in New World

Oct-31-2023 PST Category: New World

I've been attempting to transition from the Bow to the Musket after dedicating a substantial amount of time to crafting the build. However, I'm struggling to make the Musket perform on par with the Bow, and it feels like it falls short in various aspects.

The Musket seems effective at eliminating opponents with low resistances, but once an adversary gets up close, there's little means of escape and the damage output can't compete with the Bow's Evade Shot (Do I need to improve the properties of the weapon with New world coins?).

I find traps to be largely ineffective, as grit can negate their impact, and various dexterity-based abilities seem to diminish their utility. Moreover, the Musket's only standout abilities, Stopping Power and Crippling Powder Burn, are overshadowed by the Bow's Evade Shot, particularly Stopping Power, which lacks the same knockback and mobility.

Additionally, the Musket's Grenade ability can be dodged when thrown and even if it sticks to someone, it can be damage-iframe, making it somewhat unreliable.

One advantage I see with the Musket is that normal shots can penetrate through players, which is particularly useful in Outpost Rush and Wars. However, I've found the Bow to be more accurate and easier to hit enemies with.

My intention with this post is not to seek the optimal way to play the Musket but rather to understand specific situations, preferably in small-scale combat, where the Musket might be a better choice than the Bow. In other words, I'm looking to identify what unique advantages the Musket offers that the Bow does not.

Many of you might be misunderstanding the essence of my question. I'm not seeking the most efficient way to use the Musket; rather, I want to know in which specific scenarios the Musket outshines the Bow. More New Wrold discussion at MMOexp.com, feel free to join in.
